Nigeria’s women football team, Super Falcons, have been named the best African women national team by FIFA even though they didn’t qualify for the 2016 Olympics.
According to the ranking released by FIFA , the Falcons grossed a total 1602 points to land at the top position way ahead of Cameroon, Ghana, Equatorial Guinea and South Africa -who are representing Africa at the Olympics. I
The Falcons, who climbed up to the 37th position in the FIFA world ranking, finished last in group D at the last FIFA Women World Cup in Canada and failed to reach Rio 2016. They also failed to get a medal at the 2015 All African Games in Brazzaville, Congo.
