IGbos Tell Oba Of Lagos To Retract Statement And Apologize Or They Go Against His Will


Following the uproar caused by the comments by the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, where he
threatened Igbos' resident in Lagos to vote for the governorship candidate of the All
Progressives Congress (APC), Akinwunmi Ambode, a cross-section of Igbos in the Lagos
metropolis have dismissed the threats of the monarch.

Some of the Igbos in Lagos State in reaction to the threat, have dared not to vote for Ambode in the forthcoming Saturday election, daring Akiolu
to go ahead with his threat.
A cross section of the Igbo community who spoke to Post Nigeria on Monday via telephone
interview, insisted that the Oba of Lagos cannot intimidate them to vote against their choice,
stressi A business man known as Ikechukwu Nwosu who
has lived in Lagos for 20 years, said the Igbos cannot be coerced to vote against their will. He urged the Oba to go ahead with his threat.

Another source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said that the Igbo community will not
be cowed by a frustrated Oba who knew that his candidate would lose gallantly in the forth coming governorship election.

Another source Nkechi Uche stated "whosoever want to fight against the Igbos, is trying to fight against God. We are not the only electorates in Lagos State. Why must he threaten us? Can the Oba do that to the Hausa community in Lagos?",
she queried.

Another source who spoke at length condemned the statements credited to the Oba of Lagos, stressing that it was "barbaric, undemocratic and
uncalled for".

Meanwhile, the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the monarch
asking him to "retract and unconditionally apologise to Ndigbo" over the death threats.
