Early this month, D’banj’s producer, Divine ‘DeeVee’ Austin, called out Olamide for ripping song ideas from D’banj. According to DeeVee, Olamide’s single, ‘Don’t Stop’ was ripped off D’banj’s track, ‘Shake it.’
Yesterday, in a conversation with the press, D’banj spoke about the claims and stated that Olamide did take the idea from him but it wasn’t without his consent.
According to him,
“The truth is the truth. Deevee was in the least saying the truth,” D’banj said, adding that Olamide had visited his studio, but he did ask D’banj to use the line.
“Baba, if you no use am, I go use am,” Olamide supposedly said, and though D’banj said he told Olamide he would be using that line, the rapper went ahead to use same in his song, ‘Don’t Stop’.
But D’banj said he refuses to see this as stealing, “I don’t see it as stealing,” he said. “Olamide is my brother – my younger brother. So, why not?”
