So, Chocolate City and Loopy Records had a merger. To celebrate that, Chocolate City's 10 Years Anniversary and also the return of the self acclaimed 'God On The Mic', Jesse Jagz,
they released a collaborative album on the Star Music App titled 'The Indestructible Choc
Boi Nation'. The album boasts of 13 dope artistes and 15 tracks. I took my time to listen to every track more than twice just for
this review.
The album started on a good note. 'Summertime'. Summertime features Ice
Prince, M.I and Jesse Jagz with additional vocals from Loose Kaynon. It was the first official single from the album. The Jesse Jagz and Reinhard production was well jumped on
by the three artistes. Somehow it seems Ice Prince always gives his A game whenever he's on a track with M. And Jagz gave the
song a sweet reggae feeling.
Second on the track is 'Do Something' by Koker. The track was the Hottest Song on the
Star Music App where the album was first released. If you don't remember Koker, he was the guy on the chorus of 'Rich' on M.I's
The Chairman album. He made this Fuji number real classy. The song was just easily everybody's favorite. The police force will also love this one. Lol.
Next is 'Drank'. First of all I wanna salute Reinhard on this one. Two leaders of the new
school teamed up for this one. Milli and Dice Ailes alongside Dj Lambo who is always trying to be on some Dj Khaled with her "We The Actual Best" chant. I never knew Dice Ailes could rap until this track. And he delivered. They all went hard on this one.
Thankfully Milli didn't say the word 'PUSSY' throughout this particular album.
Then there's 'Bass' which features Ice Prince and Koker. I particularly am not so thrilled
about this track. Somewhere in the song I got bored. Maybe if Ice Prince dropped some bars
it would have sounded nicer. And Koker should have carried the chorus. Its a decent effort though.
The fifth track goes by the title 'Oh No No'. From the intro to the end it was an interesting song. Dice Ailes proves that his dope rap flow on Drank was no fluke. He went even harder on this joint. 10/10.
And then 'Go Hard'. When I saw the title 'Go Hard' featuring three heavy bar droppers, Loose Kaynon, Milli, and Ice Prince on the tracklist I envisioned a BET Cypher kinda song and I was disappointed. Apart from that, the song was dope. Loose Kaynon was everywhere on this one. The man was not letting anybody mess with his spot. Then Ice came up and delivered well too. Then Milli.
Ah! Milli's hook made the whole track perfect. Arararara Oro oh!
Pryse's 'Ricochet' is the less talked about song in album on social media and everywhere else for good reason. Am not
saying its that bad. But am not saying its that good either. Pryse was dropping some very amateur lines on us. The first verse was just TOO WACK. The hook was alright though.
I mean, we haven't heard from the lady for a long time and her comeback song is this? Yo Pryse, keep up.
'Loving You' is a song by Victoria Kimani and Ice Prince Zamani. The only thing I like about this collaboration is how their last name rhymes. Just kidding. Kimani was on her A
game and Zamani was combining on some ragga stuff. Nice.
'Love Is Calling' is a song by Nosa. This is definitely a song that every mature person will
love. Well composed with inspiration from the Nokia tune.
'Loose Soul' is a powerful and nicely written song by the Queen Of Soul, Ruby Gyang and
Dj Caise. I wonder why Dj Caise was on it. Dude didn't say a word. If he did then I missed it.
'No More' by Ruby Gyang and Jesse Jagz is next. Ruby once again delivers and am sure
nearly every female will relate with the message in this one. Jesse Jagz didn't impress at all though.
Milli and Koker teamed up for the track 'Heart Felt'. Trust me when I say my heart felt this one. I love how Koker stays on the streets level and still keeps it classy. And Milli was Milli.
'3rd Mainland Bridge' aka '#3MB' by M.I and Moti Cakes. When I first heard 'Bad Belle' I
thought Moti Cakes was just lucky to come up with that hook. Moti Cakes is becoming someone to watch out for though by the way he dropped another insanely catchy hook on
this number. And M.I came in with a godly presence and left us some punched lines.
Then there's the second official single from the #TICBN album. 'Suite 99′ featuring Jesse Jagz and Ice Prince. It is more like a
conversation with the way they holla at each other after every four bars. A braggadocious
and creative song.
And now the last track on the album. If you wanna know what really transpired between the label Chocolate City and the Jagz Nation boss Jesse Jagz that made him leave then
listen very attentively to this song. Restoration featuring Jesse Jagz, M.I and Milli. For me though, the song only featured Jesse Jagz. Its a story telling track and Jagz narrated his story very well and it was a great
climax for the album.
So an overall rate of the album. I wished Pryse choosed another of her song for this album. That being said, 9/10.
