Two die in Taraba viewing centre clash

Two persons were killed on Friday night during a fracas at a television viewing centre in Tella town in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The incident came 24 hours after some
members of Boko Haram attacked Ngamudu village of Kanga LGA of Borno State.

The casualty figure in the Boko Haram attack could not be ascertained as of press time. Information on the attack was said to have filtered in from survivors, who ran to Maiduguri
for safety.

Our correspondent gathered that an argument arose among the viewing centre patrons, leading to a free-for-all.

Many people were said to have been wounded in the fracas, where the combatants were said to have freely used all types of weapons against
one another.

Executive Director of Stefanos Foundation, Mr. Mark Lipdo, quoting security sources, confirmed the two incidents.

He said it took the intervention of some security agents before normalcy could be restored and prevent the clash from spreading further.

Police Public Relations Officer in Taraba, Mr. Jospeh Kwaji, said he was not aware of the incident, promising to investigate and get in touch with our correspondent.

As of the time of writing this report, he had yet to do so.
