The Football Association's disciplinary
committee is considering sanctions
against Aston Villa after thousands of the club's fans invaded the pitch to launch an assault at West Bromwich Albion players after an FA Cup encounter between the two teams.
The crazy scene took place on Saturday, March 7, 2015, after Aston Villa defeated West Brom 2– 0 to book a place in the semi final stage of the
oldest football competition in England. Fans of Aston Villa took invaded the pitch in their thousands to celebrate their victory, scaring away West Brom players after the final whistle despite the efforts of police men and stewards to disperse them.
Reports say the FA will launch a probe into the incident with possible fine and the threat of a ground closure hanging against Villa.
