Iyanya, Chidi Mokeme and Others Criticise MTV Base List

Singer, Iyanya and rapper, Eedris
Abdulkareem have faulted the list of the top 20 Nigerian songs put together by MTV Base Africa and aired on Wednesday, October 1, 2014.

The music acts, who are angry about the exclusion of certain tracks on the list, took to social media to air their anger.

Iyanya wrote on his Instagram account 'So Kukere is NOT amongst the 20 top Nigerian songs of all time. LOL!!!! Wonders shall never
end. Ahead! Ahead!'

While not exactly starting with a question on why any of his songs are not in the list, a more vicious Eedris Abdulkareem added on
Twitter: 'I would like to say that from the director of research mtv nigeria and all that made the selection of the evergreen songs may GOD punish u. Where are the Fela
classic evergreen songs where is Nigeria jagajaga where is mr lecturer where is african china … Mtv is a fraud.

Actor and TV host, Chidi Mokeme, has also added his voice to a matter that is becoming more controversial by the day. Mokeme, who is set to host the 2014 edition of widey followed TV reality TV show, Gulder
Ultimate Search, wondered how come none of Fela's songs are on the controversial list.
'I know some songs have earned their place on the list (African Queen, Oliver Twist) but if we're talking ALL TIME, pleeeeeease…Top 20 greatest Naija Songs of 'ALL TIME'? And FELA name no dey dia? Abeg Park well well. Abeg make una help me suggest some greatest songs of ALL TIME for them,' he
wrote.

The list, which has songs like 2face's ' African Queen,' 9ice's ' Gongo Aso ' P Square's ' Do Me,' Wizkid 's ' Holla at Your Boy' and 17 other songs was put together by
the station in commemoration of the country's 54TH Independence anniversary.
