Don't Get Disconnected- Empowerment for Today, Thursday, 3rd July 2014

On a Lighter Note

(This section of this newsletter has no Biblical or theological significance, it is only meant to make you laugh or at least smile) "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones" (Proverbs: 17:22)

A Jury Full of Lawyers

A judge in a small city was hearing a drunk-driving case and the defendant, who had both a record and a reputation for driving under the influence, demanded a jury trial.

It was nearly 4:00 p.m. and getting a jury would take time, so the judge called a recess and went out in the hall looking to impanel anyone available for jury duty. He found a dozen lawyers in the main lobby and told them that they were a jury. The lawyers thought this would be a novel experience and so followed the judge back to the courtroom.

The trial was over in about 10 minutes and it was very clear that the defendant was guilty. The jury went into the jury room, the judge started getting ready to go home, and everyone waited. After nearly three hours, the judge was totally out of patience and sent the bailiff into the jury room to see what was holding up the verdict.

When the bailiff returned, the judge said, "Well have they got a verdict yet?"

The bailiff shook his head and said, "Verdict? They're still doing nominating speeches for the foreman's position!"

A Word for Today

Don't get Disconnected!

"and they are not connected to Christ, the head of the body. For he holds the whole body together with its joints and ligaments, and it grows as God nourishes it."
-Colossians 2:19 (NLT)

Something can have great potential, but will make no impact if disconnected from its source, disconnection from our source as children of God will cause us to under produce. Apostle Paul was talking to the Colossian Christians and referring to those who were giving them doctrines that were not according to Christ's, he highlighted that their life was out of order because they were not holding fast to 'the Head' who is Jesus Christ.
God intends for the church to hold fast to Christ her head and be nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments in order for her to grow with the increase from God. Know that not all growths is good, cancer is a growth, so is a lump in the body, these are bad growths and causes pain much more than joy.
The enemy can deceive many to think that they are having growths in their lives, every true increase and growth comes from being properly connected to Christ, the head of the body.
The arm or leg in a body will be deceiving itself if it thinks that by standing alone, it can get nourishment and grow, likewise a branch that is detached from the tree may seem to be doing well by itself for a while, but ultimately, it will wither and die.
There are no two ways to it, if we want true growth and increase; we have to be connected to the power source, Jesus Christ.
"Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing". John 15:5.
Being connected to Christ requires that we wait on Him always in prayers and the study of the Word, meditating on His Word and allowing His Holy Spirit to lead and guide us always.

Confession

I choose to align myself to Christ, the head of the body, who holds the whole body together with its joints and ligaments, that I might be nourished and grow with the growth that is from God. Halleluyah!

Have You Accepted Jesus into your life?

You can say this prayer now to accept His love...

Salvation Prayers

If you don't Know Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour and would like to accept him into your life as your personal Lord and Saviour, Please say this prayer: Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
