On a Lighter Note

(This section of this newsletter has no Biblical or theological significance, it is only meant to make you laugh or at least smile) "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones" (Proverbs: 17:22)

I've Paid!

A man walks into a bar and has a couple of beers. Once he is done the bartender tells him he owes $9.00.
"But I paid, don't you remember?" says the customer.
"Okay," says the bartender, "If you said you paid, you did."
The man then goes outside and tells the first person he sees that the bartender can't keep track of whether his customers have paid.
The second man then rushes in, orders a beer and later pulls the same stunt.
The barkeeper replies, "If you say you paid, I'll take your word for it."
Soon the customer goes into the street, sees an old friend, and tells him how to get free drinks.
The man hurries into the bar and begins to drink high-balls when, suddenly, the bartender leans over sand says, "You know, a funny thing happened in here tonight. Two men were drinking beer, neither paid and both claimed that they did. The next guy who tries that is going to get punched right in the nose."
"Don't bother me with your troubles," the final patron responds. "Just give me my change and I'll be on my way."

A Word for Today

Focus on YOUR assignment!

"When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, Lord, what about this man? Jesus said to him, If I want him to stay (survive, live) until I come, what is that to you? [What concern is it of yours?] You follow Me!"
-John 21:21-22(AMP)

It is very easy these days to get distracted from our assignment, once it seems someone is getting a head way in a particular area, people just begin to do the same thing regardless of whether or not its their assignment. Infact someone once said on a lighter note; God called some people, but some people 'Called God' after they waited for God to call them and He didn't.
In our text today, Jesus hinted Peter about what his ministry was going to entail. However when Peter saw John whom the Bible referred to as 'the disciple whom Jesus loved' following them, he became envious and asked Jesus what John's ministry going to be like and Jesus told him out rightly that it was not his business, in order words, Peter, mind your own business, that is, Peter, take your attention off some else's assignment and follow me. Some Christians get busy analysing other people's affairs; ministries, business, responsibilities etc., while leaving theirs undone. It is the will of Christ that his disciples should focus on their own assignment, other people's affairs are nothing to us to intermeddle in; we must quietly work, and mind our own business. 1 Thess 4:11 says "and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands, just as we commanded you,"

If we attend to the duty of following Christ, we shall find neither the heart nor time to meddle with that which does not belong to us. We have been called to 'follow' Christ and it is paramount.
