On a Lighter Note

(This section of this newsletter has no Biblical or theological significance, it is only meant to make you laugh or at least smile) "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones" (Proverbs: 17:22)

A Following Person

A teacher was sitting at her desk grading papers when her first-grade class came back from lunch. Alice informed the teacher, "Paul has to go to the principal's office."

"I wonder why," the teacher mused.

"Because he's a following person," Alice replied.

"A what?" the teacher asked.

"It came over the loudspeaker: 'The following persons are to go to the office.'

A Word for Today

Master It

"If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it."
-Gen 4:7(NIV)

Welcome to the beginning of a brand new week.
Life is all about making different choices every now and then, the choices we make will in turn determine what happens in our lives on the long run. God has given everyone the ability to choose, (Deuteronomy 30:19), it's down to us what we make of it. Cain was at the verge of sinning and even though it was his action before then that led to his temptation, however, God in His mercies warned him of what was about happen and made him aware of the fact that he could rule over it. James 1: 13-15 "When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death." Some people blame the devil for their wrongdoing, our verse today is making it plain that we have the power to rule over temptations if we so wish.
As children of God we also have the Holy Spirit in us who nudges us deep down in our heart (the still small voice), but what do we do about it?
We likewise have access to Grace, for God's grace will empower us to master sin and live a victorious life in Christ. Jesus' advice is this; "Keep awake and watch and pray , that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak". Mark 14:38. Make up your mind today, to live above sin, because greater is He that lives in you; you've got what it takes, maximise it.
Have a victorious week!
