Framework For Film Distribution Under NFCVB Microscope.

Abuja - The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) has commenced review of  the New Distribution and Exhibition Framework (NDEF) for the industry, the Director General, Patricia Bala, has said.

This is contained in a statement released in Abuja by the board's Acting Head, Corporate Affairs, Caesar Kagho.

The NDEF was designed by the NFVCB to infuse adequate structure and accountability in the business processes of all stakeholders in the movie industry.

It was geared toward repositioning the film industry with best international practises and standards in distribution of films and video works in the country.

The statement said the review would address the systematic failure in adhering to classification and censorship decisions of the board.

According to the board, the NDEF will minimise the proliferation of pirated work, which has affected the operation of licenced distributors in the country.

The statement also quoted Bala as decrying the low production of children movies, in spite of the efforts made by the board to encourage its production.

It said that efforts were being intensified by the board to enhance the quick release of censorship certificates to filmmakers.

The statement said that the board had commenced the deployment of the computer Magpie, an internet-based censorship classification platform.

It said that the device was expected to drastically reduce the time of approval between censorship and obtaining of release certificates of films and video works.
