Devon, took her own life six weeks ago after complaining she could no longer cope with being bullied – both at school and online. Grieving mother Gabbi was moved by the attendance of her daughter's true friends, who lined the route with lit candles and released balloons into the sky. But she has revealed her shock at the audacity of the bullies who tormented young, talented Izzy to turn up as well. Some of those who arrived to mourn her were directly implicated in the bullying at Brixham College. One was a leading perpetrator. Gabbi claims she contacted the school at least 15 times in the months before her daughter died complaining about the ostracising. But nothing was done.
She had fled a Spanish lesson in tears the day before her death when the jibes and sniggers — 'the usual stuff', says her mother, bitterly — got too much.
